Diana Fallah is an hourly employee in elderly care and she is often called in evenings and weekends.

- It's often I have to refuse a job because I don't have anyone to look after my child. My employer has stopped calling because they know I can't get rid of it anyway, says Diana Fallah.

She has a seven-year-old son that she cannot leave alone.

- I have to take care of him but I also have to work. For nine months I have been trying to fix this on my own but it is not going any lower. Now, unfortunately, I have to apply to the social service and it really does not feel good, says Diana Fallah.

The municipalities said no

Toddler parents without permanent employment or with fixed times are not accepted by the night care, as stated in a decision from the municipality.

Christine Andersson is head of the preschool operations and responsible for night care in Västervik municipality and says that the decision was made on the wrong grounds.

- The decision states "timed temporary agency", but it does not matter what kind of employment you have to look for a place with us. What is required is that the parent has regular work, which means that it is the main source of income for the household.

- We would like Diana to submit a new application so that we can do another test to see if she is entitled to that care, says Christine Andersson.
