More recently, a debate has flared up about the value of discussing ethnicity in connection with youth robbery. Mustafa Panshiri says ethnicity is an important factor to talk about.

- When these robberies come to the areas where we live and it affects our children, ethnicity is the first neighbors will tell each other. Because that's the only visible facts you will go on, he says.

Nadim Ghazale thinks the debate is too one-sided.

- We will talk about what is more that is added to a youth's backpack that eventually causes him to commit such acts. It often happens that when we reinforce the image that exists around the kitchen tables, we also reinforce the negative forces, he says.
