Last fall, the cultural school started in Sorsele. Through 50 study places, young people in the municipality now have the opportunity to play music and dance.
- In such an inland municipality it is very important that there are activities for those who may not be interested in sports and outdoor life, says Erik Qvist, cultural coordinator and music teacher in Sorsele.
One of the young people who practice dance every week is 16-year-old Hanifa Isaac.
- You get to work out and have fun at the same time. You are happy when you get home.
"Study results are raised"The cultural school has meant a boost for the dance in the municipality, says dance teacher Fanny Zetterberg.
- We can risk various events, which are in, for example, Umeå or Luleå.
Erik Qvist cites research that he clearly believes shows that culture needs to be accessible to young people.
