The man who represents the Center Party in a municipality in Kalmar County is convicted of abuse and illegal threats to 75 hours of community service and to pay just over SEK 12,000 in damages to the young woman.

- We have an agreement that all elected representatives sign where you are actually obliged to resign if you are convicted of more serious crimes. We take a serious look at what has happened, says Filip Qvarnström, Ombudsman for the Center in Kalmar County.

Should the district court instead choose prison as a sanction, it is a two-month prison sentence.

Dark details for the party

The C-politician has already been convicted of several crimes, including abuse and drunk driving, something the Barometern newspaper was the first to tell.

- Something has come up lately, so it's something that has been darkened for the party and not brought to us. He has afterwards acknowledged that this is the way it is, says Filip Qvarnström.

Now the politician is urged to step down.

- He will be asked to submit his assignments and we hope he will obey.
