According to reports, Hatfield set off in May 2019 to start sailing around the world. During this journey, he spent almost a year at sea. During the year, he completed the uninterrupted voyage alone.

"I'm happy to be back, and happy to be back on land again," Hatfield said. It is reported that he has carried out three voyages around the world, but this is the first time that he has continued sailing.
