The Russian Embassy in the United States of America has expressed deep concern over yet another allegation of alleged "interference" by the Russian Federation in the upcoming US presidential election in 2020. According to Russian diplomats, there is a "promotion of a new spiral of speculation."

“It is particularly striking how this myth is exploited by political forces in Washington to achieve its opportunist goals. Putting forward fictitious, unsubstantiated allegations against the “Russian theme” is becoming a bad American political tradition, ”the statement said.

The Russian embassy called on American politicians to stop allegations against Moscow, stressing that the state’s position on this issue is "simple and understandable" - "the Russian Federation does not" interfere "in the internal processes of other countries."

“The anti-Russian component in the inter-party struggle in the USA has already led to an unprecedented degradation of bilateral relations,” the Russian diplomatic mission explained.

Diplomats also recalled that Russia and the United States have a special responsibility “for international peace and security”, as permanent members of the UN Security Council. In this regard, a constructive and pragmatic dialogue between countries is crucial. The embassy of the Russian Federation reaffirmed its readiness for a substantive discussion with the United States on topics of information security and other problems.

The day before, Senate Leader Democratic Minority Senate Chuck Schumer, Upper House Democrat Foreign Affairs Committee Robert Menendez, and Democratic Party Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Sherrod Brown sent a letter to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchina. In it, they called for imposing sanctions on Russia after intelligence reports appeared that the Russian authorities continue to carry out "large-scale systematic interference" in the US electoral processes, which are aimed at changing the results of the 2020 presidential election.

“We urge you, based on the voiced findings of the intelligence community, to immediately draw up a list and impose sanctions on all those who are identified as responsible for ongoing interference with the election, in particular, this applies to President Putin, the government of the Russian Federation and any Russian entities who bear direct responsibility for this, as well as those who act on their behalf or provide material or financial support to their efforts, ”the message says Lenov of the Democratic Party.

At the same time, Democratic senators said that less active measures would be perceived as a rejection of the obligation to protect the United States and maintain transparency of the electoral process.

"Persecution mania"

According to a member of the Federation Council committee on international affairs, Sergei Tsekov, American politicians are obsessed with the theme of Russia and its alleged interference in electoral processes.

“There is a disease called persecution mania. It seems to me that the American community is hurt, they have a persecution mania, and it concerns Russia. What to do with this condition? He must be treated. It is very difficult to characterize their actions in a different way, ”the senator said in a conversation with RT.

In turn, State Duma deputy Ruslan Balbek pointed out that Democrats pre-sign a readiness to lose the presidential election, blaming Russia.

“How Russia intervened in the American election is still a mystery of the century, I think, for the Democrats too. It’s absolutely not a fact that this story will somehow help the Democrats in the upcoming elections, ”RT said.

Recall that on Friday, February 21, a number of American media, including The Associated Press and the New York Times and The Washington Post, referring to their own "anonymous sources" again returned to the topic of "Russian intervention." According to the information provided, Moscow is allegedly interested in the fact that Donald Trump is re-elected for a second term, and is also trying to help Bernard Sanders, the headquarters of the Democratic senator from Vermont. This and other information about the mythical Russian campaign to interfere in American electoral processes was announced by representatives of the intelligence community of the United States at a private briefing in the US House of Representatives on February 13.

The Kremlin called such media reports “paranoid,” emphasizing that they have nothing to do with the truth. At the same time, the White House expressed a similar position, describing what happened as "another example of a witch hunt." In turn, Bernie Sanders advised Moscow to "stay away from American elections."

Donald Trump also made a statement about the Russian “interference”.

“US intelligence officers overestimate Russia's efforts to help Trump. Intelligence allegedly told the crazy Bernie (Sanders. - RT ) that Russia was counting on him, not on me. This is a big scam between intelligence and democrats. They want Sanders to exit the campaign and hate Trump, ”the head of the White House wrote on Twitter.
