China News Agency, Bangkok, February 25 (Reporter Wang Guoan) The "Golden Cobra-2020" joint military exercise jointly sponsored by Thailand and the United States opened on 25th in Phitsanulok Province, northern Thailand.

The Royal Thai Armed Forces said that in order to ensure the safety of all participants in the military exercise, it will take strict measures to prevent new coronavirus.

The military exercise will continue until March 6th, and will include joint military exercises, humanitarian and civilian operations, and high-level forums. More than 9,000 officers and soldiers from 29 countries will participate in or observe the exercise as observers.

The military exercise focused on the upper part of the Gulf of Thailand. According to the plan, an amphibious assault exercise will be held on the beach of Chonburi Province in eastern Thailand on the 28th, followed by other subjects in Rayong Province, Sa Kaeo Province, Cha Chun Sao and Phitsanulok Province.

China sent a 25-person actual squad this time, with personnel from the 75th Army Corps. They participated in tabletop exercises, actual exercises, engineering assistance, and advanced forums.

The "Golden Cobra" joint military exercise has been held annually since 1982 and is the largest joint military exercise in Southeast Asia. China has participated as an observer since 2002. In 2014, it dispatched actual troops to perform. (Finish)
