Martin Guri, stock strategist at Kepler Chevreaux, sees the development as a result of the spread of the corona virus.

-It's all about this. Now it is obvious that it has come to Europe with vigor and much more powerfully than anyone had expected. It is only a matter of time before we can isolate even more cities and we will see where this week ends, he tells TT.

Fears

Maria Landeborn, an analyst at Danske Bank, is on the same line.

-It is the fear of viruses that puts fear in the market. So far, the stock exchange has been surprisingly resilient. Therefore, a recoil now is not so strange. Reality comes to a close, she says.

Martin Guri points out that the case comes in a special situation:

-Only a couple of days ago it was "all time high" so it is clear that it is a great place to take home profits.

Profit alerts to wait

The US stock exchanges have also recovered significantly during the day, as have oil prices and long-term interest rates.

Martin Guri sees a clear risk that Swedish companies will be forced to present profit warnings in the near future.

- Absolutely, it will start this week already. All responsible board and management groups now sit down and, if not a disaster plan, then in any case form an action plan.

Maria Landeborn advises long-term savers to sit quietly in the boat, but points out that much depends on how long-lasting and widespread the infection becomes.

-This can give growth a break in the first quarter. But it can stop at a notch in the curve, she says.

The small savers sell

At the online brokers Avanza and Nordnet, however, this is unusually high activity and the small savers choose to sell net.

"It is an exceptionally high activity among our savers today, the savers definitely do not sit quietly in the boat," writes Nordnet's savings economist Frida Bratt in a comment to TT.

In a historical context, however, Martin Guri sees a major potential consequence:

-This will be the largest global battle against the world economy since the Lehman Brothers crash and have the scope that the entire playing field will need to be rewritten a little.
