The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the death of a hunter who has died as a result of an accidentally shot by a hunting companion.

According to sources close to the investigation, the accident occurred this Sunday in an area of the municipality of Massanes (Gerona) where they were making a fight against wild boars.

Apparently, the victim, 65, would have gone to the place where the dogs would have marked the presence of a wild boar and had been accidentally shot, although it will be the report of the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Rural Agents that will determine the exact circumstances of the accident.

The same sources have explained that the Rural Agents of the Generalitat are already preparing a report on how the events would have occurred to deliver it to the guard instruction court of Santa Coloma de Farners (Girona), who has taken charge of the case and will have to elucidate whether there are criminal responsibilities of the author of the shot.

According to the first hypothesis, a hunter would have fired on the wild boar up to three shots, one of which has crossed the animal and then hit the victim, although this circumstance will still have to be clarified by the investigation to know if the hunters have followed the rules of safety when approaching the dam.

An SEM helicopter has taken the victim to the Joseo Trueta hospital in Gerona, where, according to health center sources, he has died.

On the other hand, the Mossos d'Esquadra are also investigating the death this Sunday of another hunter in Rupit (Barcelona), apparently, when shooting due to circumstances that their own shotgun is unknown when the man was in his vehicle.
