Few political discussions but a few sips of rum: Prime Minister Edouard Philippe paid a no-hitch visit to the Agriculture Show on Monday morning, dedicated to the livestock and fishing industries as well as overseas products.

Two days after Emmanuel Macron's marathon visit on the first day of the Paris International Agricultural Show, Edouard Philippe did a tight tour on Monday morning.

In the middle of a calm visit, without statements to the press, during which Mr. Philippe chained the photos and salty bites of meat, cold cuts and cheeses offered to him, he was notably arrested by a farmer on the Common Agricultural Policy.

"We still have battles to fight on the CAP, for example on prices," acknowledged the tenant of Matignon.

The President of the Republic returned Friday from Brussels, where the European Union budget for the period 2021-2027 was being negotiated, without agreement on the maintenance of the CAP envelope, which he made his priority.

Edouard Philippe and Didier Guillaume then joined Minister Annick Girardin to visit the pavilion dedicated to the Overseas Territories, where they tasted several rums, cocktails and cod acras, crowns of shells around their necks.
