A car crashed on Monday February 24 in a carnival parade in Volkmarsen, a market town in central Germany. Several people were injured, the driver was arrested.

The circumstances of the events that occurred on Monday in Volkmarsen are still unclear. According to local media reports, a metallic gray Mercedes station wagon sank into a carnival parade and at least ten people, including children, were injured.

Many victims were lying on the ground and taken care of by rescue teams deployed en masse in this village of 7,000 inhabitants, located in the regional state of Hesse.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested, police said, without giving details of the suspect's circumstances or motives. According to witnesses quoted by local media, the car hit the crowd around 2:30 p.m. and accelerated.
