The State of Qatar and Jordan agreed to activate the Joint Higher Committee to enhance joint cooperation, especially in the fields of energy, infrastructure and higher education.

This came during the visit of the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Amman on Sunday and his meeting with the King of Jordan Abdullah II, where the two leaders affirmed their keenness to enhance and develop bilateral relations.

The two parties agreed to exchange experiences and training in the Qatari preparations for organizing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Emir of the State of Qatar has directed to provide 10 thousand job opportunities for Jordanian citizens, in addition to the ten thousand jobs previously provided by Doha, and Qatar has agreed to support the Jordanian military pension fund with $ 30 million.

The talks dealt with a number of issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, affirming the support of the Palestinian people and the two-state solution.

The King of Jordan and the Emir of Qatar affirmed their pride in the brotherly relations between the two countries, and the keenness to promote them in various fields, especially economic ones.

The visit of the Emir of Qatar - who arrived in Amman on Sunday - is seen as of special importance, as it comes after a broad rapprochement in relations between the two countries, after going beyond the effects imposed by the Gulf crisis three years ago.

And before the start of Sheikh Tamim's visit, it received a wide official and popular welcome, and this was evident by a declaration of the Royal Court describing the Emir of Qatar as the great guest of Jordan in a press statement he published immediately after Sheikh Tamim arrived.

Jordanian newspapers and websites have been covered throughout the past few days with news and articles welcoming this visit, stressing the depth of Jordanian-Qatari relations.

Balanced relationships
For his part, Speaker of the Jordanian Senate Faisal Al-Fayez said that his country's foreign policy is based on balance.

Al-Fayez affirmed in an interview with Al-Jazeera that Jordan has balanced relations between the conflicting parties in the Gulf crisis, and also stressed that Jordan supports the Kuwaiti initiative to bridge the Gulf rift.

He pointed out that the challenges facing the Arab world are great, and there are problems in the region, and he demanded that there be a unified Arab position to solve these problems.

For his part, Jordanian Minister of State for Information Affairs Amjad Al-Adayleh said that the relations between Qatar and Jordan have returned to normal, and that there is coordination between the two countries on the political and economic levels.

In addition to Al-Jazeera, Al-Adayleh added that Jordan is looking to enhance Qatari investments in Jordan and provide job opportunities for Jordanians.

As for the Qatari writer and journalist, Jaber Al-Harami, he said that the State of Qatar understood Jordan's reduction of diplomatic relations with the beginning of its blockade.

Al-Harami added in an interview with Al-Jazeera that despite the passage of bilateral relations in a crisis, the two countries have maintained rationality in their management.

He pointed out that Jordan is under Arab pressure, as well as American pressure on the Palestinian file.

He said that Jordan and Qatar agree to solve the Palestinian issue in accordance with international resolutions, and to affirm the right of Hashemite guardianship over the holy sites in Jerusalem.

The blockade led to great pressure on Jordan by the countries that besiege Qatar in order to cut its relationship with Doha, but the pressures were met with categorical rejection, and reduced and temporary measures were satisfied, while maintaining effective communication channels between the two countries, and later Jordan and Qatar exchanged extraordinary ambassadors.

There is no doubt that Sheikh Tamim's visit bears an important message, as it launches a new page of close relations between Doha and the Hashemite Kingdom.
