The local fire station said on the social networking site "Twitter" that the rollover accident occurred in the south of Highway 76, and many passengers flew out of the car at the time of the accident. Firefighters rescued several injured who were trapped inside the bus.
The fire department said in a subsequent statement: "We heartbrokenly reported that there were three dead at the scene." In addition, 18 others were sent to hospital for treatment.
News video at the scene showed that the bus, which was not equipped with a seat belt, overturned on an embankment near the south side of Highway 15. Traffic was blocked for miles after the accident.
