Gendarmes from the gendarmerie surveillance and intervention platoon (PSIG) - AFP

The force deployment did not go unnoticed Friday evening in front of a residence in Villeneuve-Tolosane, in the suburbs of Toulouse. La Dépêche du Midi relates in its edition of the day that about fifteen soldiers from the gendarmerie surveillance and intervention platoon (Psig) intervened to put an end to the ordeal of a 50-year-old woman. According to her account, she was sequestered there “for at least two days” by her 39-year-old companion, who also allegedly raped and threatened her with a knife.

The suspect was intoxicated when he was arrested. He was to be heard during the weekend. The investigation was entrusted to specialized investigators from the brand new unit for combating domestic violence created in January by the gendarmes of Haute-Garonne.
