When a man surfing in New Zealand was attacked by a shark, his fist was blown away.

New Zealand media say that a man who was surfing in the Coromandel sea about 10:30 am on the North Island's Pauanui Marine Rescue Captain Stuart Upzon threw his fist in his nose after a surfboard attack from a large shark.

Upzone said that when the man was surfing in the sea about 150 meters from the beach, the shark bite his surfboard.

Upzone said that the man was trembling even after returning to the beach on a surfboard with sharp teeth.

"Fortunately, he didn't hurt his body, but the surfboard had sharp shark teeth," he said. The beach was closed for two hours after the incident.

Upzon says that despite this happening, shark attacks are extremely unusual in the region. "There are always sharks in the ocean, but they usually do no harm to people."

He advised, "If you're afraid of meeting sharks in the sea, it's best to stay calm and quickly out of the sea."
