From Sunday 23 February, it will kick off at the Villa Borghese Cinema House. Meetings of light, an event that will propose a program of five meetings with the great directors of Italian photography to talk about light and cinematography.

They will be in-depth and study appointments, to know in detail how a film is made and built and to reveal the different techniques with which the look of a film is designed. Through the first-person narration of the cinematographer guests and the formula of the interview from time to time conducted by Alessandro Bernabucci and Stefano Di Leo, viewers will be able to discover the work of one of the director's main collaborators.

It starts today at 11 with Oltre la luce, the first appointment dedicated to Beppe Lanci. Professor of cinematographic photography at the Experimental Center of Cinematography, Lanci boasts a very wide filmography with more than fifty films, many of which directed by great masters of our cinema such as Marco Bellocchio, Nanni Moretti and the Taviani Brothers.

Lanci made his debut as director of photography in 1977 with the film Difficile Die by Umberto Silva, establishing himself in the 80s with Gli occhi, la bocca di Bellocchio, Nostalghia by Andrej Tarkovskij, Kaos dei F.lli Taviani, A complicated intrigue of women, alleys and crimes by Lina Wertmüller - a film that earned him the David di Donatello - until he was definitively consecrated in the late 80s and 90s with the films of Nanni Moretti (Palombella rossa, Caro diario, Aprile, The room of his son ), the subsequent works by Bellocchio and the Taviani and collaborations in films such as In the name of the sovereign people of Luigi Magni and Piccoli maestri by Daniele Luchetti.

During the meeting we will talk about Lanci's career, the reasons that led him to take the road of cinema and the relationship with the directors with whom he worked during the thirty years of activity. The meeting / interview will be breathed by the sequences of some of the main films "photographed" by Lanci such as Bellocchio's leap into the void, Tarkovsky's Nostalghia and Moretti's son's room.
