INTERVIEW

The association for the defense of animals L214 published a video on Wednesday to denounce the practices of a slaughterhouse in Dordogne, that of Sobeval in Boulazac. Objective of the sequence: denounce the dizziness of calves, in particular concerning the production of halal or kosher meat, and obtain the closure of the slaughterhouse. On its site, the association puts forward "multiple and recurrent violations of the law" which "cause increased suffering for animals". Asked about a possible request to close the slaughterhouse by his services, the Minister of Agriculture Didier Guillaume refused this option on Sunday on Europe 1, "because the facts and the pictures are not proven".

"Respect for animal welfare is there"

"The images are taken over several months or several years, are pasted in relation to each other," criticized the minister. "I immediately carried out checks and the checks show that respect for animal welfare is there."
