Waving his long arms, Bernie Sanders explained that no other candidate has a stronger grassroots organization and that he will defeat President Trump.

It is very early in the election tour, but the 78-year-old is one of the candidates with the most energy and the best organized campaign.

Nevada reflects the United States

Nevada was in many ways the first test for the candidates. The desert state has a population that, from several perspectives, mirrors the US at large and which meant that the candidates had to attract the Spanish-speaking, the black voters.

About one-third of the three million residents of Nevada are Hispanic and close to one-tenth black. And Bernie Sanders showed that he has broadened his voter base.

No one attracted more of the Spanish speakers and only Joe Biden had greater support among the black voters in Nevada. As before, no one is close to appealing to as many young voters as Bernie Sander - it's his message of a "political revolution" and health insurance for everyone, which has partly made the oldest of the candidates the young people's favorite.

The only constituency that Sanders seems to have concerns with is his own generation - the older ones. Among those voters is not Sanders first choice.

No competitor near Sanders

Only a fraction of the delegates, who will be distributed before the party convention in July, have so far competed, but the concern for Sanders challengers is that he received the most votes in all the three states that held their elections. And the wide support was proven again in Nevada and none of the competitors are close to attracting the support that Bernie Sanders gathers. For many, Nevada became a disappointment instead.

Joker Michael Bloomberg, who lacks financial constraints, can still change the starting field when he seriously enters the electoral movement, but without success, it becomes increasingly difficult for the other candidates to motivate their followers to donate money before the big decision - "Super Tuesday ”in early March.

Then it will be absolutely central to be able to invest in television advertising. And the pressure on the candidates who are more in the middle, than the left-wing politician Sanders, is growing. Should the party find any strong contender for Sanders, one of Joe Biden, Amy Klobuchar or Pete Buttigieg should jump off and facilitate a clear center alternative.

For Bernie Sanders, both have the money, the organization needed and can now call themselves victors in Nevada.
