The European Earthquake Earthquake Center, EMSC, says a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck today at 9:23 am local time on the Turkish-Iranian border.
The epicenter is 5 km deep and no casualties have been reported.
EMSC speculated that about 8.2 million people around the epicenter felt vibration.
Iranian state broadcasters say rescue teams were dispatched to the site of the earthquake. "The epicenter is a rare population in Western Azerbaijan."
