Today Friday is the last day to nominate candidates for the Left Party party leader post. Then came the message that Uppsalabon Elias Lodin, Ombudsman for the Left Party in Uppsala, is challenging the post. It was P4 Uppland first to tell.

- I think it is important that we get more candidates, so that we get a well-established process, says Elias Lodin to Sweden's radio.

Nooshi Dadgostar has already chosen to run for office after the Left Party in Sörmland nominated her.

The party chairman is elected at the end of May

New party chairman will be elected in conjunction with the Left Party congress in Västerås at the end of May. It is now up to the Nomination Committee to decide on which candidates it will ultimately stand between.

Elias Lodin has previously chaired the Left Party in Ludvika.
