Vermont senator Sanders has been informed that Russia is trying to stand in the election and favor his candidacy, reports The Washington Post, citing anonymous sources in the US intelligence system.

- I honestly don't care who Putin wants to be president. My message to Putin is clear: Stay away from American elections and as president I will make sure you do, Sanders told the magazine.

Exactly how the country should have tried to help Sanders does not appear in the data.

In connection with the primary election in the state of Nevada, Sanders supporters were accused of spreading hateful content online, which Sanders suggested that Russia could be at least partially behind.

Killed intelligence manager

Following the last presidential election in 2016, it has emerged in, among other things, the special prosecutor Robert Mueller's so-called Russia investigation and in media investigations that Russia tried to highlight, among other things, Sanders candidacy even then, to undermine Hillary Clinton.

Earlier this week, US media reported that US Secretary of State Joseph Maguire had secretly stamped information from House of Representatives that Russia was trying to influence the upcoming presidential election on a large scale - especially with a view to promoting Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, Maguire was fired from his acting post by Trump, and he was replaced by the relatively inexperienced and recognized Trump nominee Richard Grenell.

Accusing the Democrats

Donald Trump, who has also previously questioned the information provided by US intelligence services, does not appear to believe the new information. He writes on Twitter that it is "yet another disinformation campaign" from his opponent Democrats.

Russia is responding to the information through Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who describes it as pure and cutting paranoia.

"Of course, this has nothing to do with the truth," he says.

The well-known Russia investigation in the United States led to a long series of prosecutions against individuals and companies, both in Russia and among Trump's former employees. However, it did not establish that Trump had cooperated with Russia.
