The text of Nebenzia’s speech at the launch event of this project was published on the website of the Permanent Mission of Russia to the UN.

He noted that this is "the first of its kind comprehensive technical assistance program under the auspices of the World Organization, located at the junction of antiterror, disarmament and the fight against organized crime."

“I am convinced that the trainings and workshops provided by the project will be equally useful for both the states of the region and for experts from relevant UN and SCO bodies,” the Permanent Representative said.

He also said that Russia “allocated half a million US dollars for the implementation of the first phase of the project”, in addition, he announced the readiness of the Russian side “to provide expert support as necessary in the framework of its implementation”.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, commenting on Trump's words, said that the Arms Trade Treaty is the only global tool aimed at improving transparency and control over the international arms turnover.
