- I am 90s talented and partly grown up with hip hop. But hip hop then is not as it is today. I feel that the texts and messages have escalated, they are more raw. What you had to do with the consequences 20 years ago is okay today, says Lars El Hayek (S).

As a local politician, he thinks that the debate is relevant even in Halmstad, when young people all over the country listen to the music. He says that young people need support and help in orienting themselves in the texts.

He himself is still listening to the music genre.

- Yes, absolutely, but I also look at it with sadness. Hip-hop is overwhelmed by the sub-genre with gangster rap, says Lars El Hayek (S).

He believes that hip hop has also previously contained harsh messages, but that people in the industry now need to investigate themselves.

- You need to reflect on what you are reporting on and how to describe it. There is a big difference in describing and romanticizing, now it is leaning more in the other direction.
