As planned, the procedure to shut down the number 1 reactor at the Fessenheim nuclear power plant was started this Friday evening. The reactor must definitively be disconnected from the national electricity network tonight, but disgruntled employees threatened to disobey and not to continue this procedure.

The procedure for the final shutdown of reactor 1 of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant began as planned around 8:30 p.m. Friday, we learned from EDF.

The first 900 megawatt pressurized water reactor of the oldest operating French nuclear power plant must gradually slow down before being disconnected from the national power grid around two in the morning on Saturday. However, disgruntled employees threatened to disobey and not to continue this procedure which would lead to delaying the shutdown of this reactor for several hours.
