She took an early interest in politics and was Sweden's first female chairman of the municipal council in her home town, Julita. In 1922 she became one of the first women in parliament. After her period in the Riksdag, she, together with friends, started a school for women.

"There they learned to take care of themselves, their country and their opinions," says Clara Waller, a relative of Elisabeth Tamm and a member of the Fogelstad Cultural Association.
