Support from Vice-President Jean-Symphorien Mapenzi explains that the soundtrack cannot be authenticated and that these denunciations only seek to weaken a pillar of the United Hearts Movement , the presidential movement. The civil society working group on the crisis - the GTSC - is asking for the immunity of the vice-president to be lifted and for justice to be brought.

It is not the first time that the National Assembly has been affected by a scandal. Last summer, the Mandaba affair broke out. This MP had been accused of touching bribes in exchange for obtaining mining permits. Former President of the National Assembly Abdou Karim Meckassoua was dismissed in October 2018 following a petition accusing him of embezzlement and favoritism.

A report produced recently by the High Authority for Good Governance points to this persistent information which " undermines the credibility of the Institution ". This report highlights many dysfunctions both administratively, financially and accounting.
