The car fires cost a lot for the insurance companies, not least for the special resources that need to be allocated to investigate how the fires actually started. In Sweden, car fires cost about 250 million a year for insurance companies.

- Of course, this is a huge amount. We see what is happening in the country and we are following that development, but we are less affected than elsewhere in the country, says Andreas Flygare.

Special investigations

In most cases of car fires, there are natural causes such as a power failure. But if you end up in a situation where the cause of the injury is not entirely obvious, the case is forwarded to a special group of experts on precisely fire-related damage to cars.

Are there times when private individuals feel offended by the large investigation that is going on, if the person's car has burned up?

- The collective wants the money to go to the right things, I do not feel that customers think it is a problem that we are careful to investigate the cause of the damage, says Andreas Flygare.
