Donald Trump continues to take revenge against those in his administration who do not follow his line. The American president has just announced the replacement of the acting director of American intelligence, Joe Maguire. According to American media reports, Trump was furious with him because his services reported to Russian politicians of Russian interference in the 2020 presidential election campaign.

Trump furious at the presence of Adam Schiff

According to these sources, the president let his anger against Joe Maguire explode when he was informed of a briefing dated February 13 before the Intelligence Committee of the House of Representatives. It is not immediately clear, however, whether Donald Trump objected to a particular part of this briefing, during which Joe Maguire's advisor, Shelby Pierson, allegedly told elected officials that Russia was once again in interfering in the American elections to promote the candidacy of the current tenant of the White House.

But according to the New York Times , the president was particularly angry by the presence of Adam Schiff, the democrat who directed the parliamentary investigation following which the republican billionaire was charged with abuse of power and obstruction of the work of the Congress.

Ambassador in Germany takes over

Joe Maguire was one of the favorites to become permanent director of intelligence, but according to the Washington Post , Trump turned on him when he was informed of this top secret briefing. The president then attacked the acting director during a meeting in the Oval Office last week, lambasting him for the "disloyalty" of his staff. The president announced on Wednesday that he was replacing Joe Maguire with Richard Grenell, the current US ambassador to Germany. Aged 53, this loyal support from the president had angered many German officials with his unsympathetic stance.

Since being acquitted by the Senate, dominated by the Republicans, during his dismissal trial, Donald Trump has dismissed several people, including in the Justice Department, the National Security Council or the Pentagon, deeming them unfair. Among them are Lieutenant-Colonel Alex Vindman and Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, two key witnesses during the impeachment investigation, and John Rood, number 3 in the Pentagon.
