This Thursday noon, large police forces were mobilized after the report of a suspect individual in Lille, in the North. Witnesses said the man was carrying what looked like an explosive belt, according to a police source.

Around noon on Thursday, a witness contacted the police to report that a man in military uniform had just entered a building on rue de Bourgogne in the Vauban district. Also according to this witness, the individual wore around his waist what seemed to him to be an explosive belt or a bullet-proof vest.

Military T-shirt and weighted belt

Immediately a doubt removal operation was set up. Heavily armed police established a security perimeter around the building in question, preventing access to the rue de Bourgogne. A team has taken over the building in which the alleged terrorist was believed to be.

The police quickly found the man who did not intend to blow himself up. The latter returned from jogging and wore a military print T-shirt. What the witness mistook for an explosive vest was in fact a weighted belt, used by athletes wishing to lose weight. The device could be lifted shortly after noon.
