Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - The Dax continued its recent weak phase on Friday. The further spread of the coronavirus outside of China is cautious. Shortly after the opening, the leading German index fell by 0.68 percent to 13,570.54 points, indicating a drop of 1.3 percent over the week.
"The fact that the Dax failed to break its record high and then the 13,800 mark leads investors to take profits," wrote analyst Milan Cutkovic from broker AxiTrader in a comment.
Given the spread of the virus in Japan and South Korea, the resulting economic burdens could drag on for even longer and have far more negative effects than the market is currently pricing in, said CMC Markets UK analyst Michael Hewson.
The MDax fell 0.68 percent to 29,979.65 points. The EuroStoxx 50 as the guiding barometer of the euro zone lost 0.72 percent.
