February 21, 2020 China has seen a further drop in new virus cases to 889 as health officials have expressed optimism that the epidemic that has caused more than 2,200 deaths so far has been contained. In the past 24 hours, however, the total number of cases has risen to 75,465 on the mainland and there have been another 118 victims, which bring the total budget in China to 2,236, plus another 11 new deaths outside the country.

First clinical vaccine tests in late April
It will still take at least two months before the first clinical tests for a coronavirus vaccine, meanwhile announced the Chinese deputy minister of science and technology, Xu Nanping, quoted by the tabloid Global Times, which has scheduled end of April as the first probable date for the start of clinical tests.

512 infected in 4 Chinese prisons
