Students at the European School and the Pauline School are some of the school thefts that occurred in January in Strängnäs, something that Eskilstuna-Kuriren was the first to tell.

One of the cases is about a brand jacket that a student got rid of after someone, according to the report, broke into his locker. The jacket was worth SEK 10,000.

"It's that they are expensive that makes them disappear," says Jeanette Björk, who investigates juvenile delinquency at Strängnäspolis police.

"The occasion makes the thief"

The police have initiated preliminary investigations in some of the eight cases for which the police have received reports. One of the reports is also about an expensive brand jacket that a student hung on in the dining room. When the student returned after lunch, it was gone.

- It is probably not advisable to hang away expensive jackets because they obviously disappear. The occasion makes the thief, she says.

To think about crime prevention

Linn Nilsson, counseling expert at the Theft Protection Association, thinks that parents should talk more with their children about a crime prevention thinking.

- We are very keen on teaching our children how to hold cutlery and what to think about when walking across a street. But in general, we do not teach children a crime prevention approach. So how to think and behave to keep things going, she says.
