The new road sign came into place just over two years ago. The reason why the Swedish Transport Agency puts its foot down and forces the city to rethink is about security. The County Administrative Board has previously stated that the signage is allowed after a private person has appealed the municipality's decision. The City of Stockholm then appealed the County Board's decision.
- We understand and support the municipality's intentions to improve the conditions for traffic by bicycle, among other things. Promoting cycling offers great benefits to public health and contributes to a better environment and a sustainable society. So initiative to increase cycling is something that should be considered positive, says Petra Wermström, department director at the Swedish Transport Agency.
