The President of the Presidential Council of the Libyan National Accord Government, Fayez al-Sarraj, said that the international community should realize the impossibility of conducting peace negotiations under the impact of the bombing, calling for what he called a strong signal from the international parties before the resumption of the ceasefire talks.

The Presidential Council of the Al-Wefaq government had suspended its participation in the negotiations of the Joint Military Commission with the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Haftar (5 + 5), in response to the bombing of the port of Tripoli the day before yesterday.

The United Nations Mission in Libya has strongly condemned the attacks by Haftar forces on the port of Tripoli, called for an end to the escalation and provocative actions, and urged all parties to resume dialogue.

The United Nations is seeking to salvage talks on a ceasefire in Libya, and a spokesman for the UN Support Mission in Libya, Jean Alim, said that the two delegations are still in Geneva, and that the leadership of the UN mission is in contact with the Government of National Accord in Tripoli and member states to maintain the momentum.

For its part, the European Parliament condemned the attack, and the Committee on Relations with the Maghreb in the European Parliament said that the attack on the port of Tripoli was troubling and disappointing.

For his part, the High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy of the European Union Joseph Burrell said that the increasing violence in the Libyan capital - including the bombing that targeted the port in Tripoli - caused an increase in civilian casualties, stressing the need to stop it immediately.

Hefter in Moscow
In Moscow, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoyogo held talks with retired Libyan Major General Khalifa Hifter yesterday, on the developments of the situation in Libya.

A statement of the Russian Defense Ministry said that Shoigu and Haftar stressed the importance of the negotiations that took place in Moscow to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Libya and the settlement of the crisis.

The statement added that the two sides stressed the need to implement the decisions of the Berlin Conference, and that there is no alternative to political ways to solve the internal crisis in Libya and ensure the unity and sovereignty of its lands.

In a statement, the National Oil Corporation announced, in a statement, that the port would be cleared of fuel tankers, warning of a humanitarian and environmental catastrophe in the event of fuel shipments detonation in future attacks.

Since April 4, 2019, Haftar's forces have launched an offensive to seize Tripoli, the seat of government, which has aborted efforts by the United Nations to hold a dialogue conference between Libyans.
