In the tracks of the mild winter, intensive work is underway to save this year's Vasalopp week, which begins with Vasaloppet 30 (Kortvasan) on Friday and continues with the Girl's Vase on Saturday and Open track on Sunday and Monday. It will be a narrow and thin snow string from Sälen to Mora.

Tommy Höglund encourages participants to take off their skis and walk along the track in some places.

- Here I want to be super clear with a piece of advice for all participants and especially for inexperienced exercisers. Do not hesitate to take off the skis and walk in the downhill slopes, but walk alongside the track so you do not hinder those who want to go on the slopes.

Ice warning

Tommy Höglund explains that it will be hard and icy in some places during the Vasalopp week, regardless of the race. It will go fast in the downhill slopes which can be a challenge for those who lack skiing habits.

-It's hard to fall on ice. In addition, there is no snow on the side of the track if you fall into the forest. In several places there are roads beside the track to walk on. We will try to sand these roads as much as we can.

Stickers and stones

Tommy Höglund also emphasizes the importance of choosing the right company in the special company that applies during the week.

-There are basic adhesives and even more adhesives that apply. Those who are not able to flock with adhesive should help. There are embankment stations before and during the race. In addition, participants must expect that there may be stones in the track that repair the skis, since we use old snow. But these scratches can then be sanded away in a sports shop.

The snow canoes in progress

Tommy Höglund signals that most things are under control for the upcoming weekend with regard to the 30 kilometer race starting in Oxberg.

-Where we do the final fine-tuning and now also the snow canoes at Oxberg. We are now focusing our work further up the track. At the marshes and the Manger booths, where we build channels and gutters that the water can flow without, as well as Risberg, where we put out snow.

TT: Will it be Open track on Sunday and Monday?

-How to answer it? We do everything we can to make it as good as possible. But we can't control the weather. Should we receive similar heat, winds and rain as this past weekend, there will be problems. But the weather forecast says there will be no such weather. Now it feels good and we will work all the way into the tile to really make it, says Tommy Höglund.
