The city of Metz lodged a complaint for "degradations" on Thursday after numerous homophobic slogans were discovered yesterday in a garden.
These posters were pasted in the heart of the Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera garden, before the ceremony organized in tribute to these two activists very active during the Stonewall riots which saw LGBT + activism flourish.
Anger of associations
The ceremony was continued despite these acts. As Le Républicain Lorrain reports, Metz has seen an upsurge in hate collages in recent weeks. LGBT + spaces are often targeted by these actions. The associations expressed their anger on social networks, like Couleur Gaies, the association that manages the LGBTQ center of the city of Moselle.

"All of this raises the question of whether, today, LGBT + activists have their place in public space, declared its President Matthieu Gation-Bachette to 20 Minutes yesterday. Dedicating plaques to them is good, but we need real pedagogy around it and we continue to fight for that ”.
