20 February 2020 At least eight victims of two shootings, in similar ways, are reported to be in the German city of Hanau, in Hesse. According to Bild, there are also five seriously injured.

The details of what has happened yet are unclear, but both shootings would have taken place in front of two places where hookah is smoked, first in the center and then in a western district of the city.

According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the first shots were fired at Kurt-Schumacher-Platz, a central square in the district of Kesselstadt. The police intervened with a large contingent and delimited the crime scene. A helicopter is also used in the research. The author or authors are still on the run.

According to eyewitnesses, eight to nine shots were fired. At least one person was left lifeless on the floor. Then the author, or the authors, drove to the Kesselstadt district, where the shootings continued, again in front of a Shisha bar.

The scenario is not yet clear. according to some sources there may have been another shooting in the Lamboy district. However, the police have not confirmed a third attack.

Hanau is located in the Main-Kinzig district about 20 kilometers east of Frankfurt am Main and has about 100,000 inhabitants.
