The Kremlin commented on the possibility of a Turkish operation in Idlib

Spokesman for the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov commented on the possibility of starting a Turkish military operation in Syrian Idlib. Earlier, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced the possible conduct of such an operation.

Journalists asked him what the reaction of the Russian side to the military operation of Ankara in Syria will be, Interfax reports.

“Let's not start from the worst scenarios yet. Of course, this is not the best scenario, ”he said.

As the representative of the Kremlin noted, if we are talking about an operation against terrorist groups in Idlib, then, of course, there will be actions in line with the Sochi accords.

“For the neutralization of these terrorist groups, which now have a fairly powerful infrastructure of weapons, equipment and ammunition, is the responsibility of the Turkish side,” Peskov said.

According to him, if we are talking about an operation against legitimate Syrian forces, then this is "the worst case scenario."

Erdogan previously stated that the Turkish military operation in Idlib is a matter of time.
