The European Commission proposed on Thursday a strategy to make Europe the champion of artificial intelligence. With the development of 5G, the European Union must, according to the commission, take advantage of the wealth of data it produces. The commission estimates that every 18 months, the number of data produced doubles in volume. European citizens, administrations and businesses should be able to benefit from it, with development projects which will be framed by laws and rules by the end of the year.

According to the European Commission, the data are the new El Dorado, an industrial wealth, a new raw material from which Europe can benefit, because it has remained industrialized unlike the United States. The first wave of data mainly benefited the internet giants, none of which are European; now the EU is well placed according to the commission to lead the race in the second wave, that of artificial intelligence which will largely benefit businesses.
" Europe is already leading, " said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. In artificial intelligence, Europe is in the lead. We produce 25% of all industrial robots for example.
