It was in January that Lotta Edholm chose to step down from her assignment after 21 years.

Now it is clear who will replace her.

During Wednesday, Isabel Smedberg-Palmqvist (L) was nominated for school board council in Stockholm. She will be elected formally at the City Council meeting on March 2, the Liberals write in a press release.

- In our party, school is not just an issue in the crowd, but the very foundation for people's opportunities to shape their lives. That is why I am extremely honored to be nominated for School Citizens Council today. I look forward to continuing the extensive work that Lotta Edholm has started to raise the knowledge outcomes in Stockholm schools, ”says Isabel Smedberg-Palmqvist (L), incoming school mayor.

She most recently comes from the Liberals' national organization where she worked with the party secretary on, among other things, organizational and leadership development.

- If we are to find the solution to the challenges we face with growing crime and integration problems, we must also start school. The school is a protection factor for many children and I see in front of me a deeper collaboration between home, school and social services, says Isabel Smedberg-Palmqvist.
