According to the municipal investigation that was presented on Wednesday, first on DN's debate page, a municipality should have between 20,000 and 30,000 inhabitants in order for the business to be conducted effectively.

The study proposes, among other things, that small municipalities that voluntarily join together should be financially compensated and that it will generally be easier for municipalities to cooperate. Due to the proposals, SVT Västmanland asked the question to the KS chairmen in all seven municipalities with the current number of inhabitants under the designated.

In addition to Surahammar (see the clip) , among others, Arboga's and Skinnskatteberg's KS chairman replied that they believe in collaboration before merging. (See fact box)

In Surahammar, the opposition party Moderates has been pushing the question, among other things in previous election campaigns, that Sura should investigate the possibilities of merging with another municipality.

- I am satisfied that the investigation has been done. That's exactly what we wanted to get back to, says group leader Johanna Olofsson.
