A mother who prostituted her 13-year-old daughter in exchange for money or other utilities was stopped by the Police in Ragusano together with four 'clients' of the girls, aged between 30 and 90 years. From investigations by the mobile team coordinated by the Catania District Prosecutor's Office, it emerged that the little girl had had sexual relations with farm laborers after working with them on the fields. The 'customers' arrested were identified through wiretapping. The abuse took place in a degraded environment: the mother who often did not have a place to sleep offered her daughter in exchange for a roof, but also for money, wine, beer, cigarettes or a shower. The girl was so used to having sex with adults that recently, the men of the Ragusa mobile team discovered, she had also 'engaged' to a 30-year-old Moroccan. A 61-year-old claimed from the mother the 'exclusive' use of the girl in exchange for the use of her beach house. During an interception, however, the victim's tiredness and his intention to report emerged and so she was immediately entrusted to a specialized police listening center who, with the help of a psychologist, listened to the hard stories of the 13 year old. The Catania District Prosecutor's Office a few hours later ordered the detention of the mother and four clients, two Italians and two Moroccans, who were executed by the Ragusa Police despite some of them planning to flee after the rumor spread that the little had been taken into custody by police headquarters. The detentions were validated by the investigating magistrate, who issued an order for pre-trial detention in prison for four of them and the signing obligation in the municipality of residence for the 90-year-old.
