A resident of Pontchardon (Orne) discovered eight corpses of cattle and other animals dying in the field of a farmer in the town, this Saturday, February 15, reports France Bleu Normandie .
She immediately reported this to the mayor and to the animal welfare association "Les Paniers du Cœur".
Overwhelmed by bad weather
The association filed a complaint against the farmer for cruelty to animals. According to the first elements of the survey, this is not the first time that a problematic situation has been reported for this farmer in his 50s. The town hall had already asked him to sell part of his 150 animals in order to reduce his workload. In vain.
This time, the man, who took over the family farm a few years ago, would have been overwhelmed by the weather. He was fined by the departmental department in charge of health and animal protection. He is said to have made a commitment to sell 50 animals by the end of the month and the entire herd before the end of the year.
