Duma Committee Supports Ex-Presidential Amendment

The State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation supported an amendment to the Russian Constitution, which enshrines the principle of immunity of former Russian presidents.

According to RIA Novosti, a new article 92.1 proposes to consolidate that the President of Russia, who has completed the exercise of his powers, has immunity.

The amendment also states that the former leader of the country may be deprived of immunity in the manner provided for in article 93 of the Constitution to remove the incumbent head of state from office.

Earlier it was reported that by the second reading of the bill to amend the Constitution, amendments were made to the immunity of ex-presidents and the responsibility of the prime minister to the head of state for the work of the cabinet.
