Kungsbacka Municipality continues to grow so it is cracking. In order to meet the needs that arise, a number of investments were made in 2019. A new school in Fjärås, remodeling of the Hålabäcks school and increased capacity in the municipal water and wastewater network as well as a new bathhouse, are some of them.

At the same time, there is a shortage of manpower and it is difficult to get together the tax funds to run the operations and clear the loans.

- This is a challenge that the entire municipality of Sweden has. We have to pay somehow. We do this partly by having a surplus in the operations but also by borrowing money, says Hans Forsberg (M), chairman of the municipal council.

A total of SEK 400 million was borrowed last year and the municipality's current loan debt is up to SEK 1,350 million.

"You need a surplus to be able to pay for your investments, you can't let the future do that," says Hans Forsberg (M), chairman of the local council.
