Frenchman Martin Fourcade won an 11th world title in Anterselva on Wednesday by dominating the Individual of the Biathlon Worlds, equaling the gold medal record on the individual level of the Norwegian Ole-Einar Bjoerndalen.

The five-time Olympic champion took the opportunity to win the small crystal globe of the specialty, the 25th of his career, and remains more than ever at the top of the general classification of the World Cup. It is his 82nd victory on the circuit, the 6th of the season, and his 2nd podium at these World Championships after the bronze won in the sprint on Saturday.

The French, author of a 19/20 rifle, was 57 seconds ahead of his great Norwegian rival Johannes Boe and 1 min 22 sec 1 the Austrian Dominik Landertinger.

With this 11th personal coronation, the seven-time winner of the big crystal globe therefore joins Bjoerndalen in the annals but the legendary Norwegian always remains the most successful biathlete at the Worlds if we add the relays, with 20 gold medals in total against 12 for Fourcade.
