Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - The former head of the UFO cabin union, Nicoley Baublies, remains a Lufthansa employee. The Labor Court in Frankfurt declared a total of eight dismissals of the company against the union official invalid on Wednesday.
Lufthansa was also sentenced to keep Baublies employed until the lawsuit was settled. Baublies had worked at Lufthansa since 2004, initially as a flight attendant and later as cabin chief (purser). Including previous training, he had been with the company for more than 15 years at the time of the dismissal in September 2019 and was therefore not terminable, the presiding judge stated.
Lufthansa lacked reasons for the extraordinary dismissals that were also pronounced. The company had vainly complained that Baublies had not registered its union work as a side job.
At the start of the negotiations, Baublies refused to allow the court to submit a settlement proposal. One sees no sense in this because Baublies' lawyer explained that Lufthansa had already had two days of unsuccessful discussions about this problem.
Lufthansa and Ufo reached a comprehensive conciliation and moderation agreement at the end of January, with the aim of settling all conflicts between the parties - including the termination against Baublies. Neither side wanted to comment on the possible consequences of the current judgment on the entire process. One has to wait for the written justification, said a Lufthansa spokeswoman.
