Marseille firefighters rescued this Tuesday evening an environmental activist who found himself hanging in a vacuum on one of the two gangways of the Mucem. A spokesman for the firefighters indicates that the soldiers found him "hanging on a simple rope", about twenty meters high, around 7:45 pm. His harness was loose and the young man had to hold on to the force of his arms. The firefighters rescued him thanks to their large scale. The activist was not injured, but a little "shocked".
According to La Provence , this young man is a member of the ecological group Extinction Rébellion (ER) and wanted to deploy a banner denouncing air pollution in Marseille. According to ER, air pollution causes 2,500 premature deaths each year in Marseille. Another action is planned for March 7: members of the group "will simulate their own death to tell the truth about the health and environmental crisis that the Marseillais are undergoing without their knowledge. "
