The Rassemblement national intends to “create a surprise” in Gironde and targets some town halls during the next municipal elections. Among them, Saint-Savin de Blaye, in northern Gironde, where Marine Le Pen's party has invested its departmental manager, Edwige Diaz. Allied with the former UMP mayor Jean-Claude Récappé, she will face the outgoing mayor, the socialist and vice-president of the departmental council Alain Renard.
The MoDem Gironde announced on Tuesday its decision "to unite with the Republican front at Saint-Savin de Blaye" and to support "the candidacy of the outgoing mayor, Alain Renard.
