A recent Chinese study has found the possibility of death with the mutated Corona virus "Covid-19" if a person contracted it, based on his age and health.

The largest study published to date on the spread of the virus indicates that most cases are mild infections, and that patients and the elderly are the most vulnerable.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China released the study, which included more than 70 thousand cases linked to the Corona virus as of February 11, including confirmed cases and suspected cases without symptoms.

The study found that the percentage of deaths due to infection with the virus is 2.3%, and that the most vulnerable age group is the elderly group.

Patients with pre-existing health conditions also face a greater risk of death compared to their peers without pre-existing diseases.

The death rate among people over 80 years of age was 14.8%, while it decreased to 8% among people between the ages of 70 and 79, and 3.6% for those between the ages of 60 and 69.

Among the age group between 10 and 39 years, the death rate was 0.2%, and it rose to 0.4% among patients between 40 and 49 years old.

Analysis of data for a subgroup of about 20 thousand people showed that the death rate among patients who did not have any pre-health conditions was 0.9%.

The mortality rate among those suffering from cardiovascular disease came to 10.5%, followed by diabetes patients by 7.3%, and then cases suffering from chronic respiratory diseases by 6.3%.

The study revealed that most cases - 80.9% - showed mild symptoms, while severe symptoms appeared on 13.8% of the patients, and 4.7% of the cases showed critical symptoms.

The study found that medical professionals faced a greater risk than ordinary people.

It is noteworthy that there are 14.6% of the 1,688 paramedics who were infected with the virus, and their condition is described as critical, while the death rate was 0.3%.

What errors?
The death toll from coronavirus infection in China on Tuesday approached 1,900 people. What are the most prominent mistakes China has made in dealing with it?

Some argue that China has made mistakes in its handling of the virus, such as:

1- The information was not published quickly enough for the public. In a report for the British Guardian newspaper, the authors, Rebecca Ratcliffe and Michael Standart, said that Zhu Xianwang, mayor of Wuhan, the Chinese city that was the source of the outbreak of the Corona virus, acknowledged the criticisms directed against him on how he dealt with the crisis, and admitted that the information was not published quickly Enough.

"We did not disclose the information in time, nor did we use the information effectively to improve our work," he told China Central Television.

The authors stated that the public was angry, as the state had not informed them earlier of the possible risks posed by the outbreak, which is believed to have started last December, and had not even informed them of precautions to be taken.

2- There are experts who questioned whether the quarantine measures taken by China were effective. He announced the restrictions hours before they were implemented.

3- Some fear that the severity of the restrictions imposed by China could upset the crowds towards health officials at a time when there is an urgent need for cooperation among the general public.

4- There are doubts about the effectiveness of the examination procedures at the airport, following the possibility of catching the infection without any symptoms.

good news
However, experts believe that China's actions were effective and led to controlling the spread of the disease, and yesterday, Monday, the World Health Organization reported that the number of coronavirus infections appears to be declining in China, quoting new data for the analysis of more than 44,000 cases of the virus.

It is noteworthy that Hubei Province had recorded 93 deaths and 1,807 new cases of the virus yesterday.

This brings the total deaths in the province since the beginning of the virus outbreak to 1789 cases and infections to 59 thousand and 989, according to the district health committee, which also showed that there are 7862 patients who recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

On the other hand, the "Chinese Metropolis Daily" newspaper quoted the famous Chinese epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan as saying that he expected the peak of the virus to spread between mid and late February.

Chung said he expects the situation to be "stable" by the end of next April.
